Winterize Your Vehicle
Important Service Tips for the Winter Weather Ahead
Whether you’re planning a long trip to the ski slopes or just a short trip to the mall, you’ll want to make sure your vehicle is ready for winter. Northern California winters can bring everything from heavy rains and winds to blinding snow and fog. It’s a perfect storm of difficult driving conditions; preparation is the key to staying safe.
First, make sure you can see. Your wiper blades should be replaced, and your heater and defroster checked for proper operation so the windshield can stay clear. Next, your battery should be tested to ensure it will start in cold weather. Your tires should be inspected for proper pressure and tread. And your fluids, including oil, antifreeze, and windshield wiper fluid, should be checked and replaced. Finally, if you’re heading out to the mountains, it’s especially important to keep snow chains and an emergency kit in your trunk.
